Old Home Tour

October 11, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Rogers County Historical Society is presenting the 2014 Fall Old Home Tour on Saturday, October 11th, from 10am to 4pm. This year’s tour will feature five homes, four of which are walking distance from each other in Old Town Claremore. All are quaint, restored and artfully furnished with antiques and vintage furniture. The fifth (not pictured) is an easy drive up the hill toward the college, located near the Will Rogers Memorial Museum. This home is architecturally unique, being the salvaged and relocated second and third story of a Tulsa home.house2 The Old Home Tour has been a Rogers County tradition since 1981, with the proceeds partially funding many civic projects, including the Gazebo in downtown Claremore, the bronze statues throughout the city, and restoration of the Belvidere Mansion, among others. This year, the tour is to benefit the Belvidere Mansion.

The Rogers County Historical Society  is a 501 c/3 non-profit organization, and receives no local, city, state, or Federal funding. Projects and properties maintained and restored by RCHS must be paid for by annual fundraisers and donations.

Although the Old Home Tour is a fundraiser, the purpose is also to educate and inspire visitors to reclaim and restore an old property, rather than demolish it and build something newer, but with less charm and character. In most cases, work on the homes has been done by the owners themselves, with creative and historically appropriate results.
Tickets are $12 and may be purchased at the Belvidere Mansion Gift Shop (121 N. Chickasaw Ave, Claremore), which is open from 10 am to 3 pm Tuesday through Saturday. Tickets are also available on tour day. Brochures with detailed information on each home’s history and points of interest will be available at all homes and the Belvidere Mansion on tour day.

If your organization or business would like to make a tax-deductible contribution or sponsor the Home Tour, or if you have questions, please call 918-342-1127.
