History Legends and Claremore Hall of Fame Induction Announced

The Claremore Museum of History (MoH), the J.M. Davis Arms & Historical Museum, and the Oklahoma Military Academy (OMA) have joined together to present the “History Legends and Hall of Fame Induction,” an inaugural event benefitting all three museums.  The event will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa.

The three honorees recognized at the History Legends and Hall of Fame Induction will be Oklahoma’s premier historian, Dr. Bob L. Blackburn, world-renowned artist P.S. Gordon, and posthumous induction of Lt. Colonel Lee F. Gilstrap, educator and World War I hero.

“All three of these men have outstanding records of service to others during their lives,” said Wayne McCombs, Executive Director of the J.M. Davis Arms & Historical Museum. “The City and residents of Claremore are very proud of these native sons and their lifetime achievements.”

The induction ceremony and gala will be preceded by a reception and is set for May 6 starting at 6:00 pm at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Catoosa. Sponsorships are available at all levels. Blackburn, Gilstrap, and Gordon bring the number of inductees in the Claremore Hall of Fame to 26 members. Other members in the Hall are Dr. Keith Ballard, James “Jocko” Clark, J.M. Davis, Maggie Culver Fry, Elizabeth Gordon, W.R. Howell, Darnell Jones, Clem McSpadden, J.B. Milam, Dr. Richard Mosier, Paul Neely, Patti Page, Andy Payne, Bob Portis, Lynn Riggs, Frank and Ludmila Robson, Clem Rogers, Will Rogers, Stuart Roosa, Stratton Taylor, Helen Walton, and Laurie Williams.
