Stumbling Towards Success

“Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”
― Winston Churchill

20u-Stumbling-Success-1000x600Moment of Truth: Last week I completely failed to keep one of my obligations. I was bummed, disappointed and promised myself that I’d make it up before the weekend.

Before I knew it, Sunday was staring me in the face and I had missed out completely.

That glitch (stumble) made me think about the process of success. The simple secret to success requires that you respond to adversity from a place of growth and learning. In all honesty it’s up to you. When you stumble you have two choices:

  1. Get Bitter ~or~
  2. Get Better

It’s far from easy, but worth it.

Maybe, like me, you’ve recently stumbled. In that case, here are a few gems from the “Adversity Hall of Fame”:

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
– Michael Jordan

“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.”
– Albert Einstein

“You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.”
– Walt Disney

“Adhere to your purpose and you will soon feel as well as you ever did. On the contrary, if you falter, and give up, you will lose the power of keeping any resolution, and will regret it all your life.”
– Abraham Lincoln
