Meet Rogers County’s “Champion of Compassion”

Theresa Learn is Rogers County’s “Champion of Compassion” for February. Theresa feels the Senior Companion  Volunteer Program is extremely necessary because it provides a way for seniors to attend to their business themselves.  Clients are assisted by the volunteer with shopping and errands. They are given the opportunity to choose their own food, go to their favorite store or restaurant. It’s an important part of staying independent. Theresa finds the commitment very rewarding. The Senior Companion Program is now accepting new clients. Clients must be over 60, live in Rogers, Craig or Ottawa counties and have a need for great companionship, respite for a caregiver or assistance with activities of daily living. This is a free service for seniors. For more information, contact the Rogers County Health Department at 918-341-3166.
