February is a sweet month to check out some books at the Will Rogers Library in Claremore! For the youngest readers, you might want to try a deliciously fun book called If You Give A Cat A Cupcake, by Laura Numeroff. If you happen to have an adorable cat show up in your kitchen, it just might want a cupcake! Of course, if you give that cat a cupcake, it might just ask for sprinkles and from there all kinds of fun chaos and silliness happens. The catchy text is illustrated by colorful pictures by Felicia Bond. Numeroff has written several “If You Give A….” books, including the well-loved If You Give A Mouse A Cookie and If You Give A Moose A Muffin. All are suitable for kids ages 2 and up and will be enjoyed by adults as well! These books and more can be found in the early reader section at the Will Rogers Library.
For children ages 5 and up, we have a yummy selection this month! Valentine’s Day Sweets and Treats by Ruth Owen is a cookbook for children that can be found in the children’s non-fiction section of the library. Your mini-chef can whip up such treats such as I Love You Cookies and Super Strawberry Slushies. This book is part of a series called Holiday Cooking for Kids, which can be found in the 641.56 section of the library. Non-fiction selections can be a nice change for young readers and open doors to many different interests. Be sure to check out the non-fiction section on your next trip to the library.
February would not be complete without an actual Valentine story, and we have one for you this month from our Young Adult section. The Young Adult section of the library is geared toward young teens and up and includes many popular titles.
