NeMar, Part Five: Today

We have published a four-part series on the history of NeMar Shopping Center over the past several days. To get caught up, read those stories first!

NeMar, Part One: The Dream

NeMar, Part Two: Swampland

NeMar, Part Three: If You Build It, They Will Come

NeMar, Part Four: Grand Opening

NeMar has come a long way from the humble beginnings in 1967. It’s a prime shopping destination for Rogers County, and thanks to the growth of Claremore, it’s now centrally located. No more swampland!

The shopping center now boasts 30 tenants, which is quite an increase from the original 18 in the 60s. Two ATMs have been added to the property. The square footage has also increased dramatically, from 68,100 to 123,377! In 2009, the portion that housed the old Goldie’s location was torn down and replaced with a new building that is now home to Maurice’s and Hibbett Sports. At the same time, a one million dollar renovation took place, including a face lift, landscaping and new signs.

Some of the current retailers include The Men’s Shop, which is the most established tenant, having occupied their space since 1969, Madalan’s Hallmark, J&J Pharmacy, All Star Trophy, Promote 2 Win Advertising, Stage, Bath & Body Works, and JC Penney. Dining establishments are Little Caesar’s, Carl’s Coney Island, CherryBerry and Bill & Ruth’s. For a full list of current tenants, visit the NeMar Shopping Center website.

The staff at Bill & Ruth’s serves a variety of sandwiches, soups and desserts.  Voted Rogers County’s best sandwich two years in a row!

Little Caesar’s serves up a full menu of pizza favorites, including the famous $5 Hot N Ready!

CherryBerry Claremore has the most extensive selection of frozen yogurt and toppings in town!

From department stores and gift shops, to florists, nail salons, and chiropractors, to restaurants and banks, NeMar has something for everyone. Spend a few hours or an afternoon, and you’ll get to experience a part of Claremore history, with a very modern twist.
