Why Not Fried Pie for lunch?

With the belief that Claremore was in need of a new and unique dining experience, Sandy Kibby and Carl Statton opened Fried Pie on April 15, 2013.IMG_5107 The Original Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pie was a recipe created in 1893, by the grandmother of Nancy Fulton. Nancy then took her grandmother’s secret recipe and opened her own place right off of I-35 in Davis, Oklahoma. Nancy serves up fresh hand-made fried pies, filled with your choice of fruit, creams, or meat. While traveling and after making several trips to Davis, Sandy and Carl knew this is just what Claremore needed.

Both owners are native Okies! Born Sandy Haddox, she has grown up, and raised her own family here in Claremore. Both of her daughters graduated from Claremore High School and now attend Rogers State University. Lakyn is an outgoing senior and Cassie just started as a freshman this year. Coming from a family of small business owners, Sandy is dedicated to continuing her family’s commitment to bringing small businesses into Claremore. Every day she remains enthusiastic about serving her neighbors quality food in a family friendly atmosphere. Nancy Fulton herself has stated “Sandy has worked very hard to serve up about the best pies our company produces.”

Carl Statton moved to the Claremore area from Tulsa in 1976 and has been an active part of the community ever since.

IMG_3177He also has a background in the restaurant business, owning a small place in Ketchum that served everything from breakfast to a weekly crab leg special. Carl loved meeting and serving the people of the Grand Lake area, and is happy to be back in the kitchen again. With Sandy perfecting the pies, Carl is the commander of the kitchen sending out juicy burgers and the ever popular Indian Tacos.

In order to meet the accommodations of the growing population of Claremore, Fried Pie offers asimple, yet diverse, menu. Along with Arbuckle Mountain fruit, cream, or meat filled pies in every possible flavor, they also have steak fingers, Indian tacos, and taco salads. Recently they have begun running weekly dinner specials on Wednesdays and Fridays, and have another in the works for Saturday.
