Child Advocates of Northeast Oklahoma – CASA received a generous donation from the Claremore Walmart. Through the Community Grant Program, Walmart associates are proud to support the needs of their communities by providing grants to local organizations. “Walmart believes in operating globally and giving back locally – creating impact in the neighborhoods where we live and work.” Child Advocates of Northeast Oklahoma is using the funds from Walmart to garner more support in Rogers County. Child Advocates has been recruiting for their upcoming volunteer training to begin March 2nd in Claremore. Their goal is to provide a dedicated volunteer to speak up for every abused and neglected child throughout Northeast Oklahoma. Need a weekend respite from the challenges of life, or a new hobby? Fiber working is soothing and wonderful! Check out the Shepherd's Cross weaving retreat on a harness floor loom. This event will be held March 7 - 9, 8:30a - 3:30p daily. Class members may stay until 5:30p to practice, if desired. Learn to weave on a floor loom with a harness and foot pedals. Everyone will learn to warp and to weave, completing a trivet and a sampler scarf or table runner to take home. Participants may bring their own loom or use one at the farm for no additional charge.
