Saturday Night Live: Laughter is the Best Medicine

September 22, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$50

Three local non-profits have joined together to form a new organization to benefit even more Rogers County residents. Habitat for Humanity, Bridge for the Future Rogers County, and She Brews have come together to form New Life Alliances. They provide tools, education and support to individuals in our community who want a better life for themselves and their families.

They are hosting their first fundraiser on Saturday, September 22. Saturday Night Live: Laughter is the Best Medicine will be held at the Claremore Conference Center at 7p. You can purchase tickets or sponsorships HERE!
Dinner will be served, and there will be a cash bar. Cocktail attire is encouraged.
Tulsa comedians Evan Hughes and Matt Spruill will perform, and the headliner for the evening is Dan Piraro, international entertainer and cartoonist of Bizarro.

Here’s a little more about Dan:

Dan Piraro stands 6239 ft., 7in. above sea level in his home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Born in Missouri in the mid-nineteen hundreds, he was raised mostly in Oklahoma by a pair of breeding Homo sapiens then released into the wild at the age of 21. Since then, he has traveled extensively throughout the world for a variety of flimsy reasons and boasts no major arrests or convictions.

A direct result of small-town training, he married at an early and unwise age. Now twice divorced, he dedicates much of his free time to talking youngsters out of marriage until they are at least 50 years of age.
Piraro is an art school dropout of the 1970s and became a cartoonist primarily as a means to escape conventional employment.  Bizarro was first syndicated in 1985 and continues to be the highest rated newspaper comic in the world among his close friends and family, as well as (he hopes) dozens of other people around the world.
18-or-so books of Piraro’s work have been published, a couple having little or nothing to do with his cartoon career. In addition to his grueling, daily endeavors as a cartoonist, he also paints, writes and performs music, does stand-up comedy, writes a weekly blog at Bizarro.com, and shouts at idiots on his television.

He has won numerous art and cartooning awards including an unprecedented three consecutive National Cartoonist Society Best Panel awards, and in 2010 was awarded their highest honor, Cartoonist of the Year.

In 2014, Piraro was cast as the narrator and onscreen host of FOX network’s big-budget reality show, Utopia. The show died of poor ratings after three months, but everyone associated with the production agreed it was not Piraro’s fault.

Dan’s future plans include work, psychotherapy, enjoyment, and death.
