A series of seven short plays written and directed by Rogers State University students, alumni and faculty will be presented during the RSU Theatre Program production of “Original Recipe” Thursday, Oct. 11 through Saturday, Oct. 13. Performances will be held at 7:07 p.m. at the Will Rogers Auditorium on the Claremore campus.

“Original Recipe” features seven short plays that run the gamut from the humorous to the poignant. The plays and performers include:

  • “Baby Steps” is a ‘Get-Out-The-Vote’ play directed by Brittany Book with actors Grace Campbell as Denise and Jacob Canright as Robert.
  • “Banana Man” by Clay Cain, an RSU senior from Claremore, is directed by Mikey Cox with actors Forrest Young as Banana Man, Hannah Turner as Brenda and Nate Cogan as Brian.
  • “Misunderstanding” by Kessiah Neff, a 2016 RSU graduate, is directed by Cody Berry with actors Justin Jones as Arin, Cody Pechanec as Danny and Erin Dinsmore as Violet.
  • “My Dinner with Annie” by Nate Cogan, an RSU senior from Bixby, is directed by Erin Dinsmore with actors Hallie Battles as Annie, Jairus Bradley as Peter and Alex Clair as Joe.
  • “Omaha” by Cade Thomas, an RSU senior from Broken Arrow, is directed by Cade Thomas with actors Mikey Cox as Dad, Adrian Escobar as Eric, Hannah Gray as Mom and Shae Brandt as Tracy.
  • “Run Like a Cheetah” by Jairus Bradley, an RSU senior from Bixby, is directed by Hannah Gray with actors Dallas Nofsinger as Aaron, Alex Clair as Coach and Giovanni Wahome as Brad.
  • “Three Went Down” by Andrew Nichols, a 2015 RSU graduate, is directed by Alex Clair with actors Nate Cogan as Colonel, Jairus Bradley as Gerald, Cody Berry as Karl and Dallas Nofsinger as Wade.

An intermission is scheduled between the fourth and fifth plays.

Admission to the theatre production is $12 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $3 for students, staff and faculty with RSU ID. Tickets are available at the door. All proceeds will benefit student participation in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival regional competition.

This marks the 14th year that RSU has held its “Original Recipe” production, which celebrates original theater works while also providing opportunities for students to write and direct the original works. David Blakely, director of the RSU Theatre Program and associate professor of communications, said the “Original Recipe” series provides students, regardless of their academic discipline, the opportunity to explore all avenues of theatre production.
