Festival of Trees
November 30 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm$50
In it’s 14th year, Safenet Services’ Festival of Trees Auction & Gala is bringing new and exciting changes to the event. The much-anticipated holiday fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, November 30th at 6pm at the Will Rogers Downs Event Center with all proceeds benefitting the domestic abuse and sexual assault shelter and prevention agency.
“Festival of Trees is our biggest event of the year and our best fundraiser. Last year we had an incredible turn out and were able to raise $60,000 for our shelter. This year our goal is to raise $70,000. Our theme is ‘Making Spirits Bright’ which we felt doubled as a great holiday theme but also reminds attendees the real reason for the event – to help families suffering from domestic violence,” said Donna Grabow, Executive Director of Safenet Services.
Dinner will start at 6pm with the silent auction beginning shortly after and live auction begins at 7:30pm. “One of the changes this year is to offer a dinner instead of hors d’oeuvres,” adds Grabow, “The number of people who attend has increased which meant we needed to move to a bigger facility and that allowed us to provide a full dinner.”
One of the new features of Festival of Trees is the Golden Ticket. “I am really excited for the Golden Ticket,” said Alexandra Seifried, Development Specialist, “we are selling 50 tickets at $100 for your chance to pick any item off the live auction before we even start bidding.” Must be present to win and the ticket will be drawn at 7:30pm, right before the live auction begins. The event committee is still working to add more items to the live auction, but as of now, the Golden Ticket winner would have their choice of almost 30 items. Some of these currently include: 15 Christmas trees, a wine tour, a Christmas limo light tour, OSU basketball tickets, and two round trip domestic flights curtesy of Southwest Airlines. “We are so grateful Southwest donated those tickets, I think they will be a big draw for attendees,” Seifried said. Golden Tickets are currently being sold at Safenet Services office – hurry and get yours before they run out!
“Another new feature is the ability to see all of our silent and live auction items before the event online. We felt that this would add value for our supporters so the excitement for the event begins before they step through the door,” adds Seifried. The website to view the auction items early is bidpal.net/festivaloftrees18. Also, beginning November 1st, event tickets will be sold online at the same web address and at the Safenet office. Tickets are $50 before the event and $65 at the door.
Event sponsors include: Nees Realty, Pixley Lumber, Erwin Glass, Canyon Creek Energy, Rescue Heat & Air, and The Claremore Progress. Safenet Services still has sponsor opportunities, if you are interested please call Alexandra Seifried at 918-341-1424. A table sponsor for 8 is $700.
“Unfortunately, there is a great need for our agency in our community. Nationally, statistics show one in four women will experience domestic violence; and in Oklahoma, we are 6th in the nation for domestic violence. This means it is happening to someone you know,” said Grabow. Thankfully, Safenet is here to help the victims of Rogers and Mayes County. In 2017, the agency was able to provide 200 women and children 10,300 safe nights. 447 clients received counseling and 3,572 calls were made to Safenet’s 24-hour crisis line.
