Chamber Announces Plans for 2020 “Drive-thru” Christmas Parade

The annual Claremore Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas parade looks a bit different this year with the current climate. The 2020 parade will be a drive-thru format, held on the campus of Rogers State University on the evening of Saturday, December 5th. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Our Hometown Heroes.”

Traditional floats or stationary displays will set up in assigned spaces on campus, and the spectators will drive through the campus to admire the festivities. This year’s theme allows for plenty of imagination; the definition of “hero” has been seen in a variety of ways throughout this year. Your heroes can be first responders, healthcare workers, or your favorite caped crusader! The use of Christmas lights is a requirement for every entry.

The Chamber will be giving away cash prizes for the following categories: Best Use of Decorated Lights, Best Use of Parade Theme, and Christmas Spirit Award.

Entry applications are now available to participate in the parade. Applications can be found on the Chamber’s website at www.claremore.org. Physical applications are also available at the Chamber office at 419 W. Will Rogers Blvd. in historic downtown Claremore. Entry application deadline is Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

“It’s a shame that we can’t have our traditional parade this year,” said Ashley May, Director of Communications for the Chamber. “But due to COVID-19, we did not want to do anything to put our community at risk, so rather than canceling the parade altogether, we did our best to come up with an alternate plan. We hope to have a fantastic turnout from both participants and spectators this year. We are so thankful for RSU’s partnership in this endeavor.”

The parade will begin at 5:30 PM on Saturday, December 5th.

This parade is made possible by the generosity of sponsorships offered by Claremore businesses. The 2020 Claremore Christmas Parade sponsors include: Presenting Sponsor, Rescue Heat & Air; Star and Ribbon Sponsors are B&B Theatres, BancFirst, Price 66, Rice Funeral Service, Same Day Auto Repair, and Solid Rock Realtors – Michael Urie. Sponsorship opportunities are still available; contact the Chamber for more information.
