April is Full of Fun in Claremore!

For great ideas, resources and practical advice on all your home improvement and other spring projects, come out to the Claremore Home and Garden Show held April 3rd through 5th at the Claremore Expo Center. The annual event is a three-day exposition that features between 100 and 150 vendors to help both amateur and veteran do-it-yourselfers with home improvement projects of all sizes, as well as offering financing, new buildings, materials, plants, flowers and more.

Admission is free. The Claremore Expo Center is located at 400 Veterans Parkway. Event hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Each business that participates will create a special “Chamber Meal Deal” and patrons will be able to use these deals all during Chamber Restaurant Week! Nerd Alert! Nerd Alert Events is bringing Route 66 Comic Con to Claremore. Route 66 con is the first of its kind in Claremore, and will be held at the Dr. Carolyn Taylor Center on the campus of Rogers State University, April 4th. The doors will open at 10 a.m. and the fun continues until 5 p.m. Special celebrity guests will include Dominic Pace who plays “Gekko” of Disney’s “The Mandalorian”, Justin Nimmo; Power Rangers in Space’s “Zhane” and Muriel Fahrion, Tulsa Artist and the creator of Strawberry Shortcake. Celebrity guests will be on hand to take pictures and sign autographs. There will be a collection of items from The Mandalorian raffled off with proceeds going to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oklahoma. Raffle tickets can be purchased online at Route66con.com or at the show.

A cosplay contest will be held as well, with some great prizes, as well as a judging panel of some of the most acclaimed judges in Oklahoma. Tickets are available now for the pre-sale price of $7 or you can get your tickets at the door for $10 each. Children 12 and under are free with a paid adult admission, so get your masks and capes and head to Claremore Route 66 Comic Con. Green Country Hamfest returns to Claremore Expo Center April 10th and 11th. Hamfest will host the largest gathering of amateur radio operators in Oklahoma and surrounding states. This gathering incorporates a multitude of commercial vendors and dealers, educational forums, and prizes. The doors open 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Family Day at the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch returns April 18th with blacksmith John Pepin on hand to demonstrate skills so important on the ranch when Will was born in 1879. Since the beginning of Family Days at the Ranch near Oologah, many families have shared the day with their children and grandchildren as a way of showing them traditions and history of their own families. Some use the day as a family outing, picnicking on the grounds, or just dropping by and witnessing the longhorn herd and Palomino horses roaming the pastures and petting the goats in the barnyard. Gates to the ranch are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Family Day special events run from 1 p.m.to 3 p.m. Admission and events are free. Visit Willrogers.com. for more information.

Incredible crowds have continued to attend Movie Night at the Museum at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum. Traditionally the last Friday night of the month, April 24th will continue with a showing of Buster Keaton in “Cops” and “One Week,” a 1920s silent film with Bill Rowland on the organ he donated to the museum. Admission and popcorn are free.

Claremore Main Street will be hosting Sip, Savor, Shop: A Taste of Claremore on Saturday, April 25th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Stroll through downtown and get samples of local flavors from restaurants, caterers, and wineries in the various shops. While you’re enjoying the food and drink, be sure to catch the live music and browse a variety of great boutiques and shops. Tickets go on sale April 1st and are $15 each. There are a limited number of tickets sold and they usually sell out before the event so purchase early from Main Street’s office at 419 W. Will Rogers Boulevard!
