The White House on the Verdigris, where a young Will Rogers celebrated Christmas in his early childhood, is now the White House overlooking Oologah Lake.

Will’s Country Christmas will be observed at the ranch Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7, providing hours of family fun. The house and grounds will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland with activities from storytelling and Christmas music to hayrides and take-home crafts. Hours are 5-9 p.m. both nights.

Wild West hay rides along the banks of the lake, lighted only by campfire are $5 for 15 and older, free for kids 14 and under. Be on the lookout for bad guys with guns and good guys and gals, who rescue the riders from thieves.

Camel and pony rides, train and carriage rides, and 19th-century games are free. There will be opportunities for Christmas shopping with food trucks and vendors on the grounds.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in the room where Will was born for photographs (bring your own camera). He will also be at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum in the beautifully decorated Heritage Gallery on Dec. 7 and 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for taking photos (bring your own camera). Admission to the Museum is free for photos.
