The third edition of West Bend Winterland begins on December 2nd with the monumental tree lighting. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the West Bend in the parking lot of the Claremore Expo Center. This year the tree will be lit by Cameron Hollinsworth. Cameron is a Claremont Elementary student who has been battling brain cancer. Both Cameron’s parents are active Marines and very honored that Cameron will have this opportunity. Cameron will flip the switch on the 65-foot Norwegian Spruce, lighting West Bend Winterland for the first time this season. Green Eyes Coffee will be handing out complimentary hot chocolate and selling coffee drinks. December 7th is the Claremore Christmas Parade! This year, the parade will start at Lynn Riggs Park-First Baptist Church and will end at the Indian Hospital. The theme is Fairy Tale Christmas, so bring the whole family out at 5:30 p.m. for the festivities. You might even get a peek at Ol’ Saint Nick! The Claremore Expo Center will be full of excitement and family fun at the Hoosier Arena Cross Nationals, December 6th and 7th. This is a junior moto x event for amateurs. The event begins at 7 p.m. and doors open at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are available online at www.hoosierarenacross.com/ or purchase at the door starting at 6 p.m.

Enjoy photos with Santa, storytelling, hay rides, wild west shootouts, kids crafts, 19th-century games, pony rides, carriage rides, music, and food trucks at Will’s Country Christmas on December 6th and 7th.  ​Santa will be visiting the Birthplace Ranch on Friday from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 pm and Saturday from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. This is a family-friendly event and free to the public (charge for food trucks and hay ride for over 15 years old). Another Christmas favorite, Shepherd’s Cross Living Nativity, returns December 12th – 14th and December 19th – 21st. Live character portrayals include Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, the wise men and angels from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. The stable will be filled with live animals and visitors can interact with them while enjoying the scenery. Wagon rides in the sheep pasture is a journey with the shepherds as they travel to see Christ. ($6.50 per person, weather pending) Children always enjoy the free children’s Christmas activities including audio-visual story, making a bird feeder, a coloring contest, and Education Silo. West Bend Winterland will host Senior Citizen and Veterans Afternoon Out on December 12th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nursing homes, the Veterans Center, and area seniors and veterans are invited to Oklahoma’s largest fresh-cut Christmas tree to enjoy the Claremore High School Choir, cookies and coffee, a visit from Santa, and a take home gift, handmade by local students. Come to the Will Rogers Memorial to get your Christmas card photos made. They have a beautiful setting and this year, admission is FREE to take pictures. Bring your own camera. Santa will be available from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 7th and 14th.

West Bend Winterland will be open for skating, Santa, and holiday festivities December 13th and 14th. Skating, a snow globe and the train ride will begin at 5 p.m. on December 13th. Santa will join us to take photos from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. On December 14th, skating will begin at 5 pm and continue until 9 p.m. Santa and Nerd Alert Customs, Once Upon an Event, will provide Disney’s princesses for a wonderful Christmas photo opportunity from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Full schedule at westbendwinterland.com.

It’s Movie Night at the Museum, December 27th at Will Rogers Memorial Museum. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., movie begins at 7 p.m.; showing of “Business and Pleasure,” co-starring Joel McCrea. Admission free, free popcorn and drinks compliments of Bank of Commerce.

Dangerzone Bull Riding returns to the Claremore Expo Center on December 31st! This annual New Year’s Eve tradition is back for its year-end championship of the top 50 bull riders currently on tour. The 2019 West Bend Winterland will close with the New Year’s Eve Bash on December 31st from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the grounds of the Claremore Expo Center. The event will feature skating, games, s’mores, an apple cider toast, music, and dancing. The grand finale will start at 9 p.m. with a fireworks show shot from the grounds of the Will Rogers Memorial Museum.
