June is an another fun-filled month for Claremore! Oklahoma Military Academy will be celebrating its 100th birthday at the Alumni Reunion June 7th and 8th. Alumnus from all over will join together for a weekend of activities to celebrate.

Come out to the Claremore Expo to watch the Green Country Dressage Chapter compete and showcase their talents June 14th – 16th. This USDF-recognized show will host schooling shows and clinics. There is no admission to come out and watch these talented riders and horses in action.

The annual Ed Galloway Totem Pole BBQ & Music Fest will be held June 15th from 12 noon to 4 PM. The fundraiser will sell amazing plates of BBQ. Musicians are welcome to bring acoustic instruments and join in the festivities. Everyone is encouraged to show off their classic cars. This is a public event and all ages and pets are welcome. The fun continues on June 20th at the Claremore Expo with the Claremore Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and dinner. The honorees are Robert (Bob) Portiss, Port Director Emeritus and highly distinguished citizen, and Admiral Joseph James “Jocko” (J.J.) Clark, a local Native American, highly decorated war hero. Cocktail hour will begin at 5:30 PM followed by a catered Hammett House dinner at 6 PM. Tickets are $75.00 per person and are available at the J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum. All proceeds benefit the gun museum.

Start your engines for the Midwest Regional Lawnmower Races at Will Rogers Downs, Cherokee Casino. Registration and tech will take place from 10 AM to 12 PM, there will be a drivers meeting at 12:30 PM, practice laps will be from 1 PM to 2 PM, heat races begin at 3 PM and feature races begin at 6 PM. The races are open and free to the public. If you are interested in participating in the lawnmower races, contact Harold McDonald at (918) 695-1305. “Keep Calm and Mini On!” The 6th annual Miniature Hereford Junior Nationals is being held at Claremore Expo Center June 25th – June 30th. Youth from all over the United States will meet to illustrate their “mini” talents! Come on by and see a lot of heart in small packages.

Downtown Claremore is continuing the ever-growing Food Truck Thursday. They are held the last Thursday of the month from 6 PM to 9 PM in historic downtown Claremore. The festivities include food trucks, live entertainment, and activities for the kids. Many of the local merchants will be open late and all activities are free to the public.

J.M Davis Arms and Historical Museum will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary on June 29th. The rededication ceremony will begin at 11 am and Michael Wallis will serve as Master of Ceremonies. The museum will be open and is free to the public, donations are accepted.

Stop by the Rogers County Farmers Market, located outside the Museum of History, on Saturdays in June to hear live music under the gazebo from 9am – 11am. Grab fresh produce, local honey, eggs, baked goods, Oklahoma wine, and try wonderfully prepared food by local vendors. You don’t want to miss this great family-friendly event!
