“I’m not going to sell snake oil.”

That was Paul Gossett’s reaction when his wife of 35 years, Ivonna, suggested he open a CBD oil store. Then Ivonna reminded him of how beneficial the oil has been for her, and he decided to do some serious research. And that is how Paul ended up opening not one, but two CBD stores.

Dr. Paul Gossett (he holds several degrees, including a Master’s in Education and a Doctorate of Divinity) is a native Texan. He moved to Claremore, met and married his bride, then returned to Texas, where they lived happily for 30 years. When his wife was diagnosed with Type II diabetes, they decided to move back to Oklahoma, where she could benefit from Indian Health Services.

With Ivonna on 16 different meds for her health issues, Paul was skeptical when their son, Eric, suggested she give CBD oil a try. But she was in chronic pain, and Ivonna decided to give it a whirl. After three days, the pain in her toes subsided. Three weeks later, Paul came home to find her electric scooter abandoned in the living room, while Ivonna rolled around having a good old time on Paul’s office chair. After three months of taking the oil religiously, a doctor visit showed that her A1C and blood sugar had both dropped dramatically. Thanks to her newfound mobility, she also dropped 35 pounds in three months.

When Ivonna’s mom passed away and left her a small inheritance, she informed Paul that she’d really love for him to open a CBD store. He began doing serious research, and learned all of the health rewards. Paul started small, by giving away a few bottles to people he thought could benefit. When his friends told him they’d definitely buy from him, he set up shop. Armed with his knowledge, he opened a shop in Vinita, which son Joshua now operates.

Contrary to popular belief, CBD oil does not contain THC, like marijuana does. While both are derived from the hemp plant, they are actually different products.

Paul informed me that back in colonial times, folks were required to grow hemp because of it’s many uses. The hemp was fed to livestock, and then eaten by the colonists. So for many, many years, everyone had CBD in the body. Nowadays, that’s not the case, which is why it works so well; the body isn’t used to it and its healing powers.

Some of the benefits of CBD oil include inhibiting cancer cell growth, promoting bone growth, reducing blood sugar levels, inflammation, and small intestine contractions, suppressing muscle spasms, and relieving pain. Personally, I can attest that it also works for insomnia.

Paul’s goal, which he is achieving, is to sell his products at a drastically reduced rate. Thanks to his research, he’s able to procure his product directly from a grower in Colorado, and has all of the paperwork to prove its purity.

On May 1, Paul opened his second location, Tribal Nations CBD Outlet at 18583 S. Hwy 66, nestled between Front Porch Bakery and Clothes & More. He carries vanilla-flavored CBD oil, as well as gummies, CBD soap (locally made), disposable vape units already loaded with oil, and vape liquids. They even have CBD oil for pets.

Other stores sell CBD oil mixed with other properties, like coconut oil, but Paul’s are mixed solely with hempseed oil, and grapeseed oil, both of which are natural anti-inflammatories.

To give you an idea of the cost, a 2-ounce bottle (one month supply, taken twice daily) sells in the $49.95 – $109.95 range. There is also a 10% discount for tribal members, law enforcement, and veterans.

If you’re curious about CBD oil for what ails you, stop in and visit Paul. His passion and knowledge of his products are impressive!

For more information, call 918-568-0297, follow Tribal Nations CBD Outlet on facebook, or just stop in. The store is open Tuesday – Saturday from 10a – 6p.

Keep it local, Claremore!
