Happy New Year from the Will Rogers Library! January brings winter weather and lots of inside time for kids. This month’s books feature some characters who are a little less than perfectly behaved, and that’s just the way we like them!
“Utterly Otterly Night” by Mary Casanova is the story of Little Otter and his family in winter. With fun illustrations by Ard Hoyt, Little Otter helps his family during a fun winter outing. It would be fun to do a bit of research on real otters playing in the snow after reading this story!
“Harriet, You’ll Drive Me Wild” by Mem Fox is a story most parents will relate to during long winter days. Harriet seems to almost always be doing the wrong thing, and her mother’s patience can only last so long. This is a sweet story that earlier readers will like and so will parents! Both of these books can be found in the Early Reader section of the library.
“Bad Kitty Goes to the Vet” by Nick Bruel is one of the many fun early chapter books in the Bad Kitty series. In this story, Bad Kitty is not feeling well and needs to see the vet. This series is a fun combination of different types of writing that appeal to young readers. A mixture of silly fiction, fact and graphic novel, Bad Kitty books have something for everyone! Readers will even learn some facts about pet health and veterinary medicine in this book! Bad Kitty books can be found in the Juvenile section of the Will Rogers Library.
