Claremore Dentist Offers Relaxation Props for Patients!

LakeCrest Dental in Claremore works hard to ensure patients are relaxed. In fact, the office uses yoga props to help patients be as comfortable as possible.

Debbie Gunkel, a longtime staff member, has had 45 hours of yoga trauma teacher training, which she uses on patients. She soothes nerves with props and breathing techniques.

What kind of props? Well, a sandbag on the lower belly is soothing. The expressions “I have butterflies in my stomach” or “Listen to your gut” are actually based on the fact that the gut is known as the ‘second brain,’ because it’s connected to our nervous system. So some extra pressure from a sandbag helps calm the nerves. Some patients prefer a bolster under the knees to ease back discomfort. An eye pillow is another popular prop, because it is soothing to the optimal nerve. Blankets and neck pillows are also available.

Of course, all of these items are optional. Personally, I’d rather be as comfortable as possible at the dentist!

Another reason to check out LakeCrest and Dr. Pahlevanyan is their Wellness Plan, which helps patients who do not have insurance.

LakeCrest Dental is located at the corner of Sioux and Blue Starr in Claremore. The office is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8a – 5p. Tuesday hours are 10a – 7p. Office hours for Fridays are 8a – 12p.
