Another year has flown by and Claremore’s very own Will Rogers Stampede Rodeo has once again been named the PRCA Small Rodeo of the Year. (Those of you counting at home, that makes four in a row!) The rodeo kicks off on May 24th and runs through Sunday. Tickets are available now for pre-order.

Did you know that every year the committee is working to make the event bigger and better and this year is no exception. Working with the city and county, the rodeo grounds are getting a much needed facelift. Located next to Claremore Lake on Blue Starr Drive, the new look includes a split-rail fence, level and non-mud filled parking and a few cosmetic touches like landscaping and brand new flag poles.

A Clem McSpadden Memorial will be presented to the public on opening night of the rodeo, along with a new night, May 24. On May 24, the rodeo will host the inaugural Clem McSpadden Tub-Handle Classic Steer Roping, to kick off after the dedication to his memorial. “I believe Clem would be proud of how hard the Rodeo Committee has worked to bring this national spotlight on our hometown,” said Louie Gardner, member of the Rodeo Arena Coop. “There is no better way to honor and pay tribute to Clem than to present all the improvements and a memorial to him, to our community.”
