Popular Red Dirt Band Coming to Claremore

When I was a college kid in Stillwater, the scene on The Strip was always busy with bands trying to find their way in the Oklahoma music scene. Cody Canada, the All-American Rejects, No Justice, and Jason Boland were regular performers and always brought the crowds out to the local watering holes.

Now, Claremore will have a chance to grab a Miller Lite and hear Jason Boland & the Stragglers perform Telephone Romeo or Somewhere Down in Texas. The popular red dirt band will perform at the Dog Iron Saloon inside Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs on January 12. Showtime is 8p.

While the band currently resides in Texas to be closer to the Red Dirt scene, the members are from Oklahoma originally. Their debut album, Pearl Snaps, was released in 1999. “Cheap bourbon whiskey and pearl snap shirts are two things that stay the same.” The band has been steadily active since then, with their most recent album, Squelch, coming out in 2015.

For more information on the concert, please visit cherokeecasino.com or call 918-283-8800. Also, it’s FREE!
