Claremore is planning a holiday celebration unlike we’ve ever seen! The West Bend Green at the Claremore Expo will be transformed into a West Bend Winterland beginning December 9. The venue will feature a live Christmas tree that’s nearly 50 feet tall, all decked out in lights and of course, a star on top!
The main activity for the three-week festival is the outdoor skating rink! Bring the kids out, lace up your skates, and have fun!
Vendors will be set up throughout the grounds selling items that would make terrific Christmas gifts (for friends, family, or yourself!), and the kids will definitely need to check out the candy shop! Kids will also jump at the chance to have photos with Santa and visit his reindeer (each Saturday of West Bend Winterland). There will even be a special mailbox for children to drop their letters to Santa.
Various food trucks will be on site, and the rotation will change up each weekend. You’re likely to work up an appetite with all the skating and shopping.
The Christmas tree will be arriving in November from a Michigan tree farm, where it was hand selected by City Manager Jim Thomas in an effort he has dubbed ‘Operation Jolly Green Giant.’
West Bend Winterland officially opens on Saturday, December 9, after the Claremore Christmas Parade. It will be open every Thursday – Sunday through New Year’s Eve.
There will be a special tree lighting ceremony on Monday, December 4, at 6p. Bring the family out to watch the lighting at 6p and then enjoy free skating.
