Over the past couple of years, I’ve been dabbling with some different fitness activities. Running, biking, aerobics….and most recently, swimming. (It’s not my favorite.) I’ve been half-heartedly toying with the idea of attempting a triathlon at some point in the distant future.
Well, it looks like the distant future is Sunday, August 20. The I Will Tri even returns to Claremore, thanks to our friends at Runners World. The event will feature swimming in Claremore Lake (hey, there’s a bucket list item, right?), running, and cycling.
Participants can choose between Sprint, Team Sprint, Olympic, or Olympic Sprint. From what I can tell, the Olympic is twice the distance as the Sprint. (I’ll stick with the Sprint this first time, thanks.)
This is a spectator-friendly event, so your friends and family can come cheer you on! Racers will receive a t-shirt and a finisher’s medal. Awards will be given for overall and age group winners for both male and female. There will also be food after the race, which begins and ends in the beautiful Claremore Lake Park.
