Kennedy Freeman of Claremore celebrated her 10th birthday on September 12. Most girls her age want the latest sparkly something-or-other, but not Kennedy. For her party, she requested that her friends bring donations for the Claremore Animal Shelter.
According to mom Jenny, this was all Kennedy’s idea. She loves animals, especially her golden doodle, KC. (The puppy is named for the Freemans’ hometown and favorite baseball team; they moved to Claremore eight years ago.) She wanted to help the dogs and cats at the animal shelter get some love and special attention.
Kennedy was able to present $200 to animal control supervisor Jean Hurst. The Claremore Animal Shelter is hosting an adoption event at PetSense on October 1 and 2, and Kennedy’s donation will be used to discount adoption fees. Dogs will be hoping to meet their new owners on Saturday from 10a – 5p and Sunday from 12p – 5p. If you’re looking for a new furry friend, this is a great time to do it and save some money!
Thank you, Kennedy!
