What? Did you say that bad word?

Let’s talk about carbs…the good, the bad, the delicious! 
A carb is a macronutrient. Macros are carbs, proteins and fats. All needed to fuel your body, all represent quality.
Now, let’s think of your body like a car. For your car to go it needs gas, right? Now, if your car runs out of gas, what does it do? Slows down then stops!

Macros, including carbs, are your gasoline. Without all three, your body slows down, runs out of fuel. Your mind becomes fuzzy and pushing through feels impossible. Without fuel we may encounter depression, anger, hunger. Your brain, nervous system, and red blood cells rely on carbs as their main fuel source as well as your muscles in order to keep going. This is why dietitians and nutritionalist recommend that carbs provide about 45-65 percent of our daily total energy (calories).

So why are you afraid of carbs? Maybe because you’re eating the wrong ones! Maybe you are confusing complex carbs *body support* (whole grains, veggies, fruits and beans) with simple carbs *empty calories* (refined sugar, white rice, nothing containing fiber).

So here are some high fuel, fiber filled carbs to eat:
🍎fruits (apples, berries, citrus, banana)
🍆veggies (kale, spinach, sweet potato)
🍲grains (oatmeal, quinoa, brown rice)
🍵beans (black and pinto beans, chickpeas, and lentils)
🍝pasta (brown rice, quinoa pasta, couscous)
Now go! And enjoy a life of full of energy and happiness! Enjoy your healthy body!
