Think Outside the Cosmetic Case

makeupWe’ve done a “rarely known beauty tips part 1 and 2” in the past and rather than do a part 3, I just thought I’d share a few things that are unusual but helpful when it comes to common cosmetic items!

1. Eye cream has many more uses than just for around your eyes! Do you have a reoccurring dry spot that at the base of your nose or your cheekbone (for example)? With winter practically here, those spots will arise soon enough and it just seems like there isn’t enough moisturizer in the world to fix it…enter eye cream! Put a small dab of eye cream in those spots for a hyper-infusion of moisture and watch them disappear!

2. Did you know cheek color can also make a great eyeshadow? Now let me clarify: I am NOT talking about using your lipstick for all things color on your face (handy, but NOT healthy!) but I’m talking about using your mineral cheek color as a quick solution to help warm up your face when you’re in a pinch, especially if you’re having a tough time getting the “perfect shade of pink” – which can sometimes be a real challenge. Use your mineral cheek color for eyeshadow sparingly, but also make sure you wash your face that night!!

3. The BEST way to make your fragrance last is to layer it, but also to keep in mind where you put it! It’s a well-known fact that the effect of a great smelling fragrance is  elongated by applying lotion or body spray and then also the fragrance (the key here is balance – all three could make you smell like a perfume skunk), but be aware of where you place the fragrance as well. For example, if you’re someone who tends to have reactive sweat glands, I would NOT recommend putting a fragrance (sprayed or wanded or otherwise applied) anywhere near that area. Your body chemistry is THE reason a scent works – or doesn’t work – with you, so stay away from any possibly questionable areas of skin. This also applies for lotion.

Take these tips and use them to help you have a wonderful time with family and feel your best this winter!

Want to understand your fragrance personality better or try an eye cream? Just let me know! I’m happy to help.
