4 Tips for Keeping Skin Looking Younger

clockIt’s been said age is only a number, but our goal in Mary Kay is to help you look ageless. And here’s another thought: Class and femininity never ever go out of style, no matter your age!  Keep that in mind as we go over 4 Must-Do’s for looking younger:

1. Take off your makeup at night! I have a friend who jokingly says, “it is a crime not to wash your face; it’s a misdemeanor in the morning, but a felony at night,” and the truth is she’s right! When you head to bed you’ve exposed your skin to all the elements of the outdoors and if you don’t wash your face before sleeping your skin will absorb all the gunk you’ve exposed it to throughout the day. Yuck! It’s scientifically proven that every night you don’t wash your face, your skin will age 7 days! Uh oh!
My suggestion: If you have a hard time getting into the habit of doing this, wash your face as soon as you’re home from work and know you’re not going anywhere else. Either that or you can always put the Mary Kay Facial Cleansing Cloths on your nightstand to help you remember.

2. Exfoliate! Many women don’t realize that age spots, sun spots, scarring, and pitting are from a buildup of dead skin cells. Did you know these can be reduced or completely reversed by doing a deeper exfoliation 1-2x a week? It certainly can-and the good news is it doesn’t have to take place in a salon! It’s something you can do right in the comfort of your own bathroom.
My suggestion: Mary Kay’s Microdermabrasion Set is second-to-none in exfoliation! You’re guaranteed to feel a difference after one use.

3. Use Moisturizer! Remember when we were talking earlier about exposing your skin to the elements throughout the day? Moisturizer helps defend against said culprits, as well as it helps keep the skin hydrated. Part of the issues with flakiness and oiliness are issues with moisture levels in the skin, so a solid anti-aging moisturizer made for your skin type is a smart decision for your skin.
My suggestion: Mary Kay’s TimeWise Moisturizer comes in formulas for normal/dry skin and also combination/oily skin.

4. Sun Protection, Sun Protection, Sun Protection!! I cannot stress enough how crucial this is. Sun damage is the #1 reason we appear older than we really are. Whether you’re in your 20s or your 50s, sun protection is a step you can take today to prevent future damage. Here’s the deal with wearing SPF: if you don’t do it… The effects WILL catch up with you. It may happen when you’re 30 or maybe when you’re 60, but one day you’ll wake up and realize your skin has changed.
My suggestion: Both Mary Kay Day Solution and Day Cream are going to  lift, tone, firm, and tighten, as well as give you daily SPF of at least 30.

These are simple, easy things you can take to do your skin a favor! Remember, on days you choose not to wear makeup or color, these steps are 10x more important!

If you need advice on which products to use for your particular skin, don’t forget I’m always here to help you look and feel your best.
