An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of. He calmly walked over to me, so I gave him a few pats. Then he followed me into my house, found a spot in the hallway, curled up and went to sleep.
An hour later, he woke up and was ready to go out.
The next day, he came back, walked inside, went to the same spot, and proceeded to fall asleep. This pattern continued for several weeks.
Finally, one day my curiosity got the best of me, and I pinned a note to his collar: I would like to find out who the owner is of this sweet dog, and let you know that he comes over every afternoon to take a nap.
The next day, he returned with a different note on his collar: He lives in a home with six children, two of them under the age of three. He’s trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?
